CHRISTENDOM MOVEMENT
(c1930-c1950)
England
Anglican group drawing on the social model of Medieval Christendom to transform the prevailing structures of society. Those associated with it included V A Demant, TS Eliot, WG Peck, Maurice B Reckitt, and William Temple. Its readiness to combine Christian insights with a social and political programme was portrayed as highly dubious by other Christians who preferred a more Barthian distinctiveness from all worldly forms.
