CUPITT, Donald
(1934 - )
Anglican thinker, who now expresses his Christian faith in terms of moral commitment to the celebration of life, without its supernatural language. To some this shows the total abandonment of genuine Christianity. To others an honest pilgrim who holds fast to the way of Jesus. In his own words he wants to emphasise a Christian commitment to value-creating public action in society, in place of a cultivated self-centredness with its too pessimistic attitude to the world.

...In this address Cupit argues for a "…beliefless and life-centred kind of religion...that delivers happiness now, rather than one that promises pie in the sky when we die."
