This website is nearing completion in its basic format and substance. However, it will continue to develop in light of new resources becoming available, as well as in response to contemporary events on the one hand and feedback from users on the other.
YBGUD ranges over many areas and aspects of contemporary moral debate. In addressing them, it draws particularly on sources and resources in the Christian tradition. This concentration carries with it no implication that attention to comparable sources and resources in other traditions are unimportant. Indeed it is very desirable that a similar facility will be made available for them. The priority throughout is how to be wise before and during moral judgement, as well as afterwards.
The site has been developed from within the University of Cumbria, under the direction of Brian Gates. YBGUD is one of several ELMAR initiatives (Electronic Media and Religions), associated with the college's Division of Religion and Philosophy. Funding has come in a grant from the Jerusalem Trust. The technical design and programming has been carried out by James Morris.
